How I Met My Monster (I Need My Monster series)

I had not seen this series before I came across How I Met My Monster title in a recent email. The name is so adorable – and the book is as well!

One night, when Ethan reaches under his bed for a toy truck, he finds this note instead: “Monsters! Meet here for final test.” Ethan is sure his parents are trying to trick him into staying under the covers, until he sees five colorful sets of eyes blinking at him from beneath the bed.

Soon, a colorful parade of quirky, squeaky little monsters compete to become Ethan’s monster. But only the little green monster, Gabe, has the perfect blend of stomach-rumbling and snorting needed to get Ethan into bed and keep him there so he falls asleep—which as everyone knows, is the real reason for monsters under beds. With its perfect balance of giggles and shivers, this silly-spooky prequel to the award-winning I Need My Monster and Hey, That’s MY Monster! will keep young readers entertained.

How I Met My Monster is another humorous adventure in the life of little Ethan who, in previous books, has had to cope with his monster Gabe going on vacation and getting snatched by Ethan’s little sister to be her monster, among other kid troubles. Now, we find out how Ethan and Gabe met in the first place, and it turns out, an entire class of monster-hopefuls had to audition in front of a teacher right there in Ethan’s bedroom! It’s a weirdly wonderful friendship of boy and beast that’s sure to please the entire family.

Customer Reviews:

Fabulous Stories: I started buying these for my nephews and they not only loved them; they wanted them read every single night. So I will keep buying them.

Grandson loves these books! Nothing to dislike! This series keeps my grandson captivated all the way through.

I read it almost every night: My daughter loves it. It is long and too advanced for her to read, but beautifully illustrated. I will probably get more in the series, just to have a change.
